What it means to be conservative
(My interpretation of conservatism)
- Preserve the society
- Survival (of tribe) trumps rights (of individual)
- Honour your gods, and ancestors
- Defend customs, traditions and institutions of status quo
- Man is broken
- Life is tragic
- (To redeem) Man must surrender (to higher good)
- Bend the knee to the reality.
- Discourage change (ceteris paribus)
- If change is inevitable, it must be circumscribed by the above dictum
