#1. Its existence prevents two hostile powers from brawling directly. Of course we still have diplomatic intrigues to play.

#2. The buffer itself is weak compared to its neighbours, and in a way its existence can be attributed to the concept of balance of power.

Now I am not sure this article is a sorry result of substance abuse or not, but let me state, clearly and boldly, any fears of impending invasion by Ahmad Shah Abdali and Nader Shah are greatly exaggerated. Dear Jerry can not be accused of any familiarity with history or even contemporary world***, otherwise he would have realized that even to compare the period in which the above mentioned worthies operated with the present is beyond ridiculous, it is stuff campy movies are made of. Suffice to say attacks by warlords from Afghanistan is least of India's concern.

This of course can not be said for the supposed buffer state. Created out of collective Islamic schizophrenia, its existence has marked by visceral hatred against Kaffirs and its endeavour has always been to harm India. It has gone to war against India thrice since Independence, not including Kargil. It has been waging proxy war against India by providing financial and material support to terrorists. It's hands are tainted with the blood of innocent men,women and children. It has a professional army which threatens the security and peace of India. It has nuclear arsenal and has always made it clear that India is the intended target. Also it has always opposed India on International forum, and has been more than happy to participate in any plans
to contain and weaken India.

The Pakistan is founded on an idea of denial, denial of the Indian Muslim Intelligentsia to associate or identify with the Indic traditions, and it is this denial at base, which makes any chance of reconciliation between India and Pakistan impossible. As far as I am concerned, in the end either India or Pakistan will survive, or rather to be precise either India will survive, or Pakistan will be able to annihilate India even as it self-destructs.

If Jerry is not as usual busy all misty eyed about the Raj, he could have realized, that Pakistan for all purposes is a hostile state, in fact it will be more accurate to term it a whore state, which can stoop to any lows to damage India. So those NRI who gloat over discomfiture that Pakistan faces are not being bigots, they are reacting like any normal organism (which excludes the socialist, secular clique which has enslaved the Indian mind space since independence) will react to threat. Schadenfreude follows from survival.

But Jerry never realizes as his loyalties and sympathies lie with our erstwhile masters, of course he is so obvious he is easily nailed, unlike the other Indian intellectual who speak in parseltongue. Which is why he tortures reality till it conforms to his delusions. Is he from KV ?

** To be frank most North Indians are not Nostalgic about Pakistan. It is usually the antiquated "intellectuals" haunting various corridors of Delhi, or the Brown/Desi clique infecting internets.
