Ok Now What ?
We are on our way to wrap up lost. The problem for us is we don't know what to watch next. Any ideas ?

You know what tastes really good ? Black Currant. Hey wait, Rum n Raisins is wonderful too. A bit of dilemma, isn't it? You know what, go ahead take a double scoop, 'cos you deserve that.
Now 'spose there is a special place in your heart for sci-fi, but wait you also are a sucker for western. Well if that be the case Firefly is just what you need. It is awesome and it is double scoop. Now why the heck was it cancelled!
The reason electorate chose Congress can be better understood if we understand the reason behind suffocating presence of Saas Bahu serials. PLEASE SOMEBODY DROP A NUKE ON EKTA KAPOOR.
Ahem, after this little outburst, I come to the main point, which is this question, what will it take to build a decent readership for this blog ?
I just found out that this blog has crossed hundred feed subscribers for the first time. Assuming the figure is correct (and goat lover assures me it is correct), what exactly is wrong with so many people.
Anyhow as long as someone is reading this blog, here is my latest brainwave. A hapless husband frustrated with the endless barrage of repetitive soaps embarks on a journey determined to stamp out the source for this poison, however the journey leads him to the horrifying truth, that daily overdose of Saas-bahu saga is a conspiracy hatched by Ekta Kapoor, ChiComs and our bothers across the border to cause permanent damage to Indians and conquer India by subterfuge.
All those who wish to finance this venture, please stand orderly in a queue.
Last post reminds me, FM is a constant source of irritating advertisements. Two more in addition to the last one.
1. Some ad for Bournvita (or Complan) - Made irritating by the fact of that stereotypical Punjabi lady voice (yes that "Hai Rabba", "Mar Jawan" ) type. It is irritating not only because it is grating but I have never actually ever heard any Punjabi speak like that, though to be fair almost all of the Punjabis I met are long settled in Uttar Pradesh, so it might be that ladies really speak like that in Punjab/Delhi.
2. Bring out the vote campaign, now this is my special favorite for reasons explained here. It represents everything that is wrong with our narcissistic class, some earnest semi-celebrity, a grave voice spouting half baked asinine platitude about voting devoid of any intelligence or insight.
3. This one I saw on TV for some car, a dorkish bespectacled little girl is shown gloomy because no one will notice her which is not very difficult because well the girl is dorkish and bespectacled. She in her gloom turns to her father who rescues her from the ignominy of non recognizance by buying the said car.
Now this is one example of child exploitation in advertisements. But there is more it sends the message to gain acceptance and admiration for the kid the parent must have car. This is manipulation of self esteem. Needless to say anyone falling for this line is going to have issues. The truth is Cars don't buy acceptance for dorks, in fact noting does. Dorks just grow up and become Omega male who blog about annoying advertisement or Bitter womyn bloggers respected ma'am who hate Sarah Palin.
Dear Dr. Ramadoss,
While I applaud your decision to ban smoking in public places , I am shocked that you have ignored an even more serious hazard against public safety. Please, for God's sake get a restraining order against Archana Puran Singh laughing in public place. I am traumatized. Amma Malange.
Watch the video. You will die before it ends. The torture starts at 1 minute mark.
Second season is more interesting, but, why oh why do they have to keep Kim Bauer alive. Horrible !
Anyway it has to be put on hold. There is, well, more pressing business.
Update : Thoughts on season premier. The opening sequence is snappy, love the song. John Connor cutting his hair is kind of ironic, but its significance is not clear to me. Future prospect of passionate android love is awesome, made even more awesome by the fact that android is fetching Summer Glau.
24 is pretty good.
Developing....
PS. Any good serials to recommend ?
Update: OK finished Season 1. Question. Why exactly wasn't Kimberly Bauer bumped off at the end ? I mean she is sheer personification of all that is dumb in this world. This streak of dumbness continues in the second season. Plus I hate Elisha Cuthbert. No one, and I mean no one, should be subjected to The Girl Next Door
1. At risk of horrifying some of you, I have to admit that I haven never watched Seinfeld before, and while I have just begun watching it, I *gasp* prefer general optimism of Friends over nihilism of Seinfeld.
2. I haven't seen Gone with the wind, or Casablanca, even though I have them on my hard disk since last year. Meanwhile I have gone and seen complete season of The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I don't regret it either.
3. I was underwhelmed with Shawshank Redemption. Still it was better than in case of Forrest Gump, which I found annoyingly cloying. Also Tom Hanks looks kind of retarded.
I miss Linda Hamilton. Lena Headey is pretty, and intense as Sarah Connor, perhaps she will grow into the role as the series proceed. Summar Glau is good as Terminator. Thomas Dekker is so so as John Connor.
I am hardly a fan of Indian Idol. A long long time back, when I was young and the blog was just a awkward and meaning less word, there used to be something called Meri Awaaz Suno, which used to be about music.
In contrast Indian Idol is about third rate melodrama, and second rate packaging, music is incidental (accidental ?). I find no reason why anyone should watch Indian Idol ( but then I don't know of any reason why one should watch TV in the first place.
However there has been one advantage of Indian Idol, it has managed to bring India together even if in a small way. The finalists Prashant Tamang and Amit Paul, both hailing from North East, the most overlooked region of the India and also most alienated perhaps. The win in Indian Idol brings out a feeling of assurance of their place in vast Indian family. We need to assure everyone, however few the number, every tradition, memory and past is counted in the Indian identity.
Perhaps that is the right way to build India.
PS. Can we go easy on pissing each other off ? First step of which would be perhaps resisting the temptation to call strangers Chinki, Madrasi or Bhaiyya.
Jungle book was a rage of its time among children and surprisingly among adults as well. I still remember the title track being played in marriages !
From Chanakya, needless to say one of my favourites. The video is of 90's style DD1, which means a bit tacky, but hey I am a sucker for klisht hindi.

Another of oldies. Quality of video is so-so, but the song I think is not bad at all
Well, it is one in the morning and I am stuck at office so for old people of my generation who grew up with one channel and without the divine guidance of AOE here is another of my favourites,
What I miss most are Ads.
At one time I used to watch discovery, but really how many times one can watch so much of killing or weird mating?
